Tips on how to improve physical and mental wellbeing
Top Tips
It’s important that all of us look after both our physical and mental wellbeing.
Learn more about the Healthy Mind Platter below, seven tips that we believe can help you live a healthier and happier life, concepted by Daniel Siegel MD.

1. Connecting Time
When we connect with others in person or take time to appreciate our connection to the natural world, we activate the brains relational circuitry. In other words, spending time with family, friends, colleagues and neighbours makes us feel good! Whether it’s face-to-face, over the phone or online, start a conversation and keep checking in.
2. Down Time
When we are non-focused without a specific goal and let our mind wander or simply relax, it helps our brain recharge. Take a break and give yourself some ‘me time’.
3. Focus Time
When we focus closely on tasks in a goal orientated way, we take on challenges that make deep connections in the brain. From enjoying your favourite hobby to learning something new, it’s important to do things that make you happy. So, whether it’s a new sport or reciting a list of Saints top 100 goal scorers, try doing something for yourself.
4. Sleep Time
Getting a good night’s sleep can make a huge difference to our lives and our mental health. It helps us refresh our mind and body, and also consolidate memory and learning so we are more productive. Get a good routine in place and try to relax before bedtime so you can fully switch off and recover.
5. Physical Time
Moving our bodies strengthens the brain in many ways. Regular exercise, being active and enjoying the outdoors all impact how we feel.
6. Play Time
Allowing ourselves to be spontaneous, creative, and playfully enjoy different experiences creates new connections in the brain. Laughter, games, dancing to music or looking at memes online are all ways we can try and bring more playtime in to our lives, enhancing our ability to adapt and deal with change.
7. Time-In
Time In is about moving our attention away from the external world and instead reflect internally and focus on sensations, images, feelings, and thoughts. Life can be busy so take a moment to pay attention to how you are feeling – mindfulness exercises are a great way to practice time in.
