Southampton FC internationals saw a mixed bag of results in their respective qualifying games on Friday night.

Jan Bednarek played the full ninety in what was a tough night for Poland against the Czech Republic in their UEFA EURO qualifiers. Fernando Santos’ side suffered a nightmare start, conceding twice inside the first five minutes, before a second half strike from Jan Kutchta widened the deficit to three. Late substitute Damian Szymanski with the consolation.

Paul Onuachu was involved as a half time substitute for the Nigeria Super Eagles as they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Guinea-Bissau, going close to finding the equaliser but seeing his header denied only by the woodwork in the 77th minute. Teammate Joe Aribo was an unused substitute for the AFCON qualifying encounter.

Elsewhere in the AFCON qualifiers, Moussa Djenepo’s Mali teammates overcame Gambia to go top of group G, with the Saints star on the bench.

Romeo Lavia also saw a win, as Belgium secured a convincing 3-0 win against Sweden - Romelu Lukaku scoring a hat-trick - but the Saints man will have to wait to make his senior debut.
