James Ward-Prowse’s free-kick against Fulham on Boxing Day has been shortlisted for Premier League Goal of the Month.

Converting a first free-kick this season, the Saints’ captain moves onto 15 direct free-kick goals in the Premier League, further closing the gap to David Beckham’s record of 18.

With the ball placed centrally 30-yards from goal, Ward-Prowse produced a curling strike which dipped into the bottom corner, levelling the score in a game which eventually ended in defeat for Nathan Jones’s side.

The 28-year-old is joined on the shortlist by Youri Tielemans (Leicester), Joe Willock, Miguel Almirón (both Newcastle), Solly March (Brighton), Eddie Nketiah (Arsenal), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and Demarai Gray (Everton).

Voting closes at midday on Monday 9th January with the winner announced on Friday 13th January.
