Southampton's B team and AFC Bournemouth meet again on Friday night, facing off in the Premier League Cup at Vitality Stadium.

THE MATCH

AFC Bournemouth vs Saints
Premier League Cup
Vitality Stadium
Friday 11th February, 7pm GMT
For ticket details see below

It's only been two weeks since the two sides last met in Premier League Cup action, a youthful Saints side falling to a 1-0 defeat at Staplewood Campus at the end of January.

Since then Dave Horseman's side continued their fine form, winning 1-0 at third place West Brom in Premier League 2 on Monday night to take them to fifth place in the standings.

For the Cherries it's their first outing since that narrow victory at the Southampton training ground, where Euan Pollock got the eventual winner.

With Saints out of the competition, a win for the hosts could see them leapfrog second place Arsenal into second place in Group A.

LAST MEETING

You won't have to stretch your mind back too far to recall the last meeting between these two sides.

Two weeks ago the two sides met at Staplewood Campus, also in Premier League Cup action.

Saints fielded a youthful line-up which featured two trialists and pushed an experienced Bournemouth side all the way.

Unfortunately it ended in defeat for Horseman's side, Pollock with the only goal of the game on ten minutes.

MANAGER'S NOTES

"It's a stadium game and last time they had four and a half thousand in," said Horseman. "They had some senior players playing and were much older than us also last week.

"The 18s haven't got a game this week so we'll pick a team full of players who need that experience to play in that environment.

"We're doing okay in the league at the moment and even though we're out of this competition it gives us a good opportunity to see if they can take the ball in a hostile crowd, for this level.

"Once we get that bit right I'm sure the boys will do the club proud."
