Dynel Simeu made his first appearance for League Two side Carlisle United at the weekend. This and more in this week’s Loan Watch…

The 19-year-old defender only made his move to Cumbria on Tuesday and was put straight into the starting eleven for Keith Millen’s side’s home game against Sutton United.

Despite the score line not going his side’s way during a tricky afternoon, Millen was full of optimism for Simeu, saying: “We’ve brought him here because he’s a big, strong, aggressive, first contact defender.

“I was pleased generally with him. He will get better for us without question. It was a tough decision to leave Morgan [Feeney] out but I just wanted to see Dynel and I felt we needed his physicality for the game.”

Across the border and it was a big matchweek in the Scottish Premiership for Saints defensive duo Jake Vokins and Kayne Ramsay at Ross County.

Whilst Vokins made it eight consecutive starts following his recovery from injury, Ramsay made the eleven for the first time since his move earlier this month.

The pair faced title chasing Rangers on Saturday afternoon, where a last-minute equaliser from Matthew Wright secured the Staggies a vital point from a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Manager Malky Mackay had praised Ramsay during the week for fitting in seamlessly to his side, stating: “Kayne came in and acquitted himself really well. I’m delighted that he has come in and slipped into the group.”

Elsewhere it was another start for Dan Nlundulu at Cheltenham Town, making it four in a row since his move to the League One side.

Unfortunately the young striker’s latest outing was cut short during the first half of Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Wigan with a hamstring injury. Michael Duff admitting: “We will have to wait and see.”

Finally, in non-league, there were further starts for keepers Jack Bycroft and Matt Hall and Dorchester Town and Melksham Town respectively.

The pair have become first choice between the sticks since their moves.
