Southampton youngster Will Smallbone featured for the Republic of Ireland Under-21s in their 1-0 victory over Sweden.

Ireland claimed victory with the last kick of the ball but Smallbone wasn’t the only Saints youngster to make an impression at Tallaght Stadium.

Will Ferry, who is currently on loan at Crawley Town, made a huge impact as he was introduced in the 68th minute.

It was a crucial victory for Jim Crawford's side who now trail second place Italy by three points and tonight’s opponents by four, with one less game played than the group leaders.

Moi Elyounoussi featured for the full 90 minutes for Norway as they fell to a 1-0 defeat to Group G leaders the Netherlands.

With Turkey claiming a 2-1 victory over Montenegro it means Norway finish third and miss out on a place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
