Ché Adams admits it's a tough one to take as Southampton fall to a 3-0 defeat at Elland Road, in the first league clash between the two sides since 2012.

It was a promising first-half for Ralph Hasenhüttl's men as the scores were tied heading into the break, the second-half told a different tale.

Adams actually had the ball in the back of the net at the 45 minute mark, but James Ward-Prowse's free-kick was deemed to be taken before the referee had blown his whistle and the goal was not given.

Leeds then netted three goals in the second half as Southampton fell to another disappointing Premier League defeat in 2021.

"Obviously it's a tough result to take," Adams reflected. "I think we dominated the first-half but had some decisions go against us. In the second half we didn't really create much and we got punished."

Referencing his disallowed goal, Adams said "the ref[eree] disallowed because he said he wasn't ready, it's one of those, it's hard to take.

"We believed in everything that we were doing. We were doing the right things but couldn't get the goal in the end and they punished us in the second half.

"It was down to us to keep moving the ball well and try and create openings, we didn't do that unfortunately.

"As a striker you're going to go through these spells, I've been through it once before.

"I think everyone knows that we're a good team and we have to remember that and keep going. It doesn't get any easier, but as a team we're more than capable of doing it."
