Following a meeting of shareholders, the Premier League has today confirmed all fixtures until the end of October will continue to be made available for fans to watch live in the United Kingdom.
Under these new arrangements, the current live match selections will remain in place and will be broadcast as normal.
In addition, the five matches per round not already selected will be made available to supporters on a pay-per-view basis, accessed via BT Sport Box Office and Sky Sports Box Office platforms.
The agreement will be regularly reviewed in consultation with clubs and in line with any decisions made by Government regarding the return of spectators to stadiums.
The Premier League and all clubs remain committed to the safe return of fans as soon as possible, with the statement reiterating that football is not the same without supporters at matches.
As a result of today’s update, two of Southampton’s upcoming matches have been chosen for pay-per-view broadcast:
17th October - Chelsea vs Southampton (3pm BST) - Live on BT Sport Box Office
1st November - Aston Villa vs Southampton (12 noon GMT) - Live on Sky Sports Box Office
Today’s Premier League announcement follows on from an open letter released on Tuesday, which reiterated the commitment to seeing the safe return of supporters to stadiums.
Uniting with the EFL, The FA, Women’s Super League and Women’s Championship, the letter confirmed that the health of the nation remains the priority, but 11 successful test events and the ability to modify stadiums to reduce the risk of transmission should see the football authorities, together, use innovative ways to bring fans safely back into football grounds, starting with a return of the test event programme.
