WHAT’S AT STAKE?
With the international break looming, Southampton will be looking to build some momentum after last weekend’s first win of the season at Burnley.
Danny Ings’s early strike was enough for victory at Turf Moor and Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side will now be focusing on a first win of the campaign on home soil.
Newly promoted West Brom are still searching for their first victory back in the top flight, losing their opening two fixtures before spurning a 3-0 lead against Chelsea to share the spoils last Sunday.
TEAM NEWS
Southampton are likely to be buoyed by the return to fitness of winger Nathan Redmond, who's missed the last two outings with an ankle injury.
Redmond resumed training this week and was the only injury concern heading into Sunday's clash.
For the visitors, Kieran Gibbs remains suspended although Ahmed Hegazi is available once again following injury. Returning loan signing Filip Krovinovic will be assessed to determine his availability.
THE MANAGERS
Ralph Hasenhüttl: "With the ball, we again need some good automatism and using the spaces in the right moment, coming into the spaces where you can hurt them, and on the other side pay attention to their transition.
“I think that's very important. They have a good transition after winning the ball, so we will definitely have to have a good organisation against the ball and a good rest defence, and in the end also hopefully the few chances you get you must be very clinical, because I think you don't get a lot of them.”
Slaven Bilić: To follow
Ralph hasenhüttl
the few chances you get you must be very clinical."
ONES TO WATCH
Danny Ings: The only player to have scored so far this season for Saints, the striker’s three goals in as many games has seen him retain his spot in the England squad for October’s fixtures.
Maintaining his ruthless efficiency in front of goal, the home side will once again look to Ings to be the difference maker.
Matheus Pereira: The exciting Brazilian has adapted to life in the Premier League quickly, continuing the form that played a key role in the Baggies’ promotion last season.
With eight goals and 20 assists in the Championship in 2019/20, the 24-year-old will be the one tasked with unpicking the Saints defence with his creativity and flair.
