Southampton will be without Nathan Redmond for Sunday’s Premier League showdown with Tottenham.

The winger had to be withdrawn after 70 minutes of Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup tie against Brentford, with the 26-year-old now set to sit out this weekend’s action.

However, manager Ralph Hasenhüttl may be able to call upon the services of Stuart Armstrong following his short stint on the sidelines with a quad injury.

“At the moment we have Reddy [Nathan Redmond] from the game against Brentford with a light ankle ligament injury and isn’t available I don’t think for the weekend.

“Stu [Armstrong] was for the first time back out on the pitch today, but if that’s enough to start at the weekend I don’t know. Maybe he will be part of the squad this weekend."

Elsewhere, the Saints boss also dismissed speculation linking striker Danny Ings with a move away from St Mary’s.

Commenting on rumours regarding last season’s top scorer, he said: “The only thing I want to say for these rumours is that there’s absolutely zero interest from Danny to go anywhere.

“He is 100% happy to be here and for us it is 100% not discussable that we lose one of the best players in Europe and one of best strikers in Europe.”
