Saints Foundation staff were on hand this week to deliver more than 9,000 units of food and drink from St Mary’s Stadium to vital NHS workers across the city of Southampton.
A variety of bottled drinks and confectionary items, usually sold on home matchdays, were set to go unused due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
So, the football club and Saints Foundation came together to make sure the produce was put to good use by distributing it to those who are working hard to keep our communities safe.
After loading the items into cars, with social distancing at play, they were taken to Solent NHS Trust and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust sites throughout the city, including; Royal South Hants Hospital, Western Community Hospital, Adelaide Health Centre and Bitterne Health Centre.
Greg Baker, Head of Saints Foundation, who was a part of the delivery process - which also included 50 Southampton shirts donated by the club - said: “We are thrilled to be supporting our vital key workers across the city.
“They have been on the frontline for many months now giving their all for our city.
"We hope that this donation of food and drink provides even a small energy and morale boost to these incredible people who are working so hard to keep us all safe.”
