Southampton striker Michael Obafemi’s superb strike against Chelsea has been shortlisted for December’s Premier League Goal of the Month.
Picking up an impressive win at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day, the Academy graduate cleverly turned past two Blues defenders before firing an unstoppable shot into the top corner from just inside the box.
The sublime effort was the 19-year-old’s first Premier League goal of the season, doubling his tally for the campaign overall after netting in the Carabao Cup tie against Fulham back in August.
Also shortlisted for the award are Jack Grealish (Aston Villa), Rodri (Man City), Xherdan Shaqiri (Liverpool), Son Heung-min (Tottenham), Kevin De Bruyne (Man City), Jordan Ayew (Crystal Palace) and Aaron Mooy (Brighton).
