Ralph Hasenhüttl wants his side to continue their recent improvement that has seen them rise up to 12th in the Premier League table.
Victory over Tottenham on New Year’s Day at St Mary’s moved Saints to four unbeaten, collecting a third win during that spell.
Not ready to rest on his laurels, the Southampton boss is wanting more from his players.
“It’s still very tight in the table and we know that when you have a few wins, you can take big steps forward.
“It’s about continuing, getting better and being critical with what we can do better.
“Today there was not so much we could do better, but we still have things we can improve.”
Danny Ings’s 15th goal of the season was enough to see off José Mourinho’s side, with Jack Stephens providing the assist.
Highlighting the pair’s impact, Hasenhüttl was full of praise for the pair.
“Danny has a lot of confidence at the moment which you see with every action with the ball and he did a fantastic job.
“Jack is one of the reasons why we are now much more compact and better in defence because he and Jan [Bednarek] do a fantastic job.”
