Alfie Jones was the standout performer across a weekend of largely positive results for Southampton’s younger loanees, as he helped fire Gillingham to victory over managerless Southend United.

Jones saw his half-volley deflect past Mark Oxley in the 43rd minute, where defensive teammate Tom O’Connor was also on show during a 3-1 win.

It lifts Gillingham into 15th in the League One table; a comfortable seven points above the drop zone.

Harrison Reed’s Fulham twice came from behind to draw a pulsating London derby against Charlton Athletic at Craven Cottage – with the midfielder entering the fray at half time.

Aleksandar Mitrovic scored the game’s fourth and final goal in the 63rd minute, taking his tally to eight in 11 league games - he incidentally tops the Championship scoring charts.

Elsewhere, Jake Hesketh was an 82nd minute substitute for Lincoln City during their 2-0 triumph over Sunderland.

The Imps produced a fine performance against the League One promotion favourites to secure their first win under recently-appointed manager Michael Appleton.

In Conference action, Eastleigh came from behind to secure a 2-1 success at struggling Chesterfield, with Southampton’s Marcus Barnes netting an impressive second-half winner.

Across the pond, Josh Sims played 90 minutes as New York Red Bulls lost out 3-0 to Montreal Impact, but, importantly, will still feature in the end of year play-offs against Philadelphia on October 20th.

Moi Elyounoussi and Fraser Forster both played in Celtic’s shock defeat to Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena. It was their first defeat of the Scottish Premiership season as Livingston earned a maiden win over the reigning champions.

In the Belgian Pro League, Wesley Hoedt featured for Antwerp in their 2-2 draw with Standard Liège.
