Pierre-Emile Højbjerg has hailed the immediate impact made by new First Team Manager Ralph Hasenhüttl following Sunday’s thrilling 3-2 win over Arsenal at St Mary’s.
A full week of implementing his ideas onto his squad yielded a second league victory of the season for Saints following a 1-0 defeat to Cardiff in the Austrian’s first match in charge the previous weekend.
For Højbjerg, the work of the new coaching staff has been swift, providing a “mental and physical boost” to Staplewood.
“He has brought new ideas,” he said, “and given everyone a mental and physical boost and that’s what the group needed.”
“We did some of the things that the manager wanted and it really paid off, especially for the final goal.
“It's important for everyone after the loss (against Cardiff) to see that the work we did during the week with the coach; believing in him, believing in the system, believing in ourselves but still not losing the DNA of the club and the players. It was massive towards getting the three points on Sunday."
