Under-23s coach Radhi Jaïdi has called for full focus ahead of tomorrow night's Premier League International Cup crunch match against holders Porto at Staplewood.
The Portuguese side have won back-to-back International Cup titles, and Jaïdi is aware that his young side will need to be on top of their game in order to halt the reigning champions' progress.
Saints have starting the competition strongly, seeing off Dinamo Zagreb in August, and will almost guarantee group stage advancement with victory tomorrow.
"We're approaching this game seriously.," the Under-23s coach said. "Full of focus and confidence. We'll make sure we're ready.
"We've made it clear to the boys, I thought the performance [against Aston Villa] was pretty good. We lacked some quality in the final third, so we've worked on that.
"We'll be clinical on Wednesday. We've heard a lot about Porto, they've won this competition two years running. We're expecting a good game of football.
"Consistency of the starting XI all depends on the messages they send during the week. It all starts on the training ground.
"Of course we're trying to give all our players the chance to play in different competitions, but that place has to be earned."
