It was a first taste of defeat for Radhi Jaïdi's youngsters in their latest Premier League 2 clash, but the Under-23s coach is confident that a quick reaction is all that is needed ahead of next week's International Cup tie.
Saints matched their Villa counterparts throughout, even creating the better of the chances, but were unfortunate to be beaten by a wide cross-cum-shot from Corey Taylor in the second half.
Just the single goal decided it, and while Jaïdi accepts that tonight's feeling may be one of disappointment, he's also keen for his young side to head into next week with a positive mindset.
"I can't remember any time that Jack Rose was under pressure or exposed tonight," he began.
"We dominated the game and created crossing opportunities. There was one or two details missing.
"I thought we could have scored in both halves.
"As I expected, the play in the final third was the difference. Their goal was fortunate.
"As soon as we played with tempo we created opportunities. The last bit didn't happen.
"The boys are disappointed tonight, but we need to get back to the training ground and adjust some of the finer details.
"We'll be starting next week with a good frame of mind, because the International Cup is another exciting moment for us."
