Mark Hughes wants to see a "real intensity" from his Southampton players when they return to St Mary's this afternoon to take on Leicester City.
Saints have one point from their opening two games, and, while the manager has been pleased with their performances in certain periods, he wants to see more from them.
That is particularly true in the early stages of their games, with Hughes keen to see a faster start today than his side have produced so far this season.
"From our point of view, we've got to have a real intensity to our play," he said.
"I think, at times, we've been a little bit passive and waiting to see what the opposition's ideas are and what they want to do in games.
"So we want to change that around, we want to be on the front foot and get everybody engaged in the game right from the off.
"That includes everybody at St Mary's, and get people off their seats and cheering us on."
