Southampton manager Mark Hughes is optimistic that Mohamed Elyounoussi will be available for Saturday's home game against Leicester City.
The Norway international missed last weekend's visit to Everton through injury, but was back in training at Staplewood Campus today.
Hughes is hopeful Elyounoussi will be ready to go at St Mary's on Saturday, but explained he will be assessed further tomorrow.
"We're doing ok in terms of the group itself," he said. "It's pretty well intact. Moi Elyounoussi has trained today, so we're hopeful he could be an option for us at the weekend.
"Obviously, he needs to have a good day tomorrow in terms of no reaction from the work he's done today.
"We don't anticipate he will have any problem. We've actually been quite careful with him because he's coming into a new environment and a new way of training probably, so that can have an effect, so we've been quite careful, but we think he's ready to be integrated back into the group."
Hughes also confirmed that defender Jannik Vestergaard is fit and available after missing the trip to Goodison Park through illness.
"Jannik's ok," he said. "He was just 24 hours away really. By Monday he was perfectly free from the virus that he had and he's had a good week."
