Southampton's youngsters have today been drawn alongside Cambridge United, Colchester United and Southend United in Group B for the 2018/19 Checkatrade Trophy.
Radhi Jaïdi's side are one of the Category One status Academies invited to pit their wits against 48 League One and League Two sides, following the same format as last year.
Saints faced Cambridge in last season's competition - with captain Alfie Jones netting the winner in a 1-0 victory - but were unfortunate to eventually be knocked out in the group stages after a dramatic 3-3 clash with Northampton Town ended in penalty shootout defeat.
Fellow Group B competitors Southend play their football in League One, while Colchester ply their trade in the fourth tier.
Dates and times for group stage fixtures will be published once confirmed.
