Fleming: Finishing on a high

Academy coach Craig Fleming has outlined aspirations for a top three finish, with his youngsters approaching their final four games of the Under-18s Premier League season.

A largely successful campaign, Saints are well positioned to finish third, but still have to face surrounding teams Arsenal and Swansea in coming weeks.

A hefty beating by Chelsea last week somewhat dented their chances of pipping the Gunners to second, but Fleming is confident his young cohort can regain their good form ahead of a decisive league run-in.

"Always disappointing to lose," Fleming began. "It was the second 45 minutes that killed us [against Chelsea], and when you're playing against a team like that you'll get punished.

"It was one of those days where we weren't at it. But this week is Brighton, another one of the strongest teams we've played this season.

"Our second year boys have been extremely consistent this season, they've been solid. And they'll be grand next year when they step up to 23s football.

"We've had such a strong season league wise, we want to finish strongly. As high up the table as we can, which right now is third. Four games to play, so the chance is there to end on a real high."
