Southampton were forced to come from behind during today's Under-18s Premier League exploits, but battled to victory with a 3-1 away triumph over Leicester City.

Praising the maturity of his youngsters, Craig Fleming labelled his teenage players as very "professional", after they stretched their winning league streak to an impressive five games.

In the absence of top scorer Michael Obafemi, who made his senior debut a week ago (aged just 17), Saints still netted three times, with Jonathan Afolabi claiming a double, and are now within a point of second-placed Arsenal in the standings.

"Very good performance, in difficult conditions," Fleming asserted. "A lot of wind and rain and they dealt with it fantastically. They battled, they scrapped, and played some really good football.

it is great for the club as a whole, that we've got two young strikers that are flying at the moment.

"They've got resilience in the locker - I thought they were unlucky to go behind. We had lots of chances ourselves, because they're a hard working bunch. For young boys, today was very professional.

"You get that feel with this group, that they're never out of a game. They never let their heads drop, and never accept defeat easily.

"It is great for the club as a whole, that we've got two young strikers that are flying at the moment. Michael has been tremendous, and likewise Jonny has stepped up to plate in Michael's absence. He was excellent today."
