Character pleases Pellegrino

Mauricio Pellegrino was pleased with the character Southampton showed in earning a 0-0 draw at Huddersfield Town.

Saints halted the Terriers' incredible momentum, as the newly-promoted side saw their perfect start to the Premier League season ended.

The visitors could not quite do enough, however, to claim all three points.

While Pellegrino was disappointed at that, he had no issues with the attitude shown by his players, as they continued their unbeaten start to their top-flight campaign.

"I think the best news for us is we deserved to win the first two games (against Swansea and West Ham)," he said.

"Today we couldn't win. We could lose maybe, but we were there fighting until the end with character and this is the best news for us."

Saints now have a two-week gap before playing again, with many of the squad heading off on international duty.

"In one side, ten or 11 players will be out and will come back two days before the next game, but, at the same time, it's enough time to work together to try to have a better connection," said the Saints boss.
