Mauricio Pellegrino felt Southampton could have taken more from their trip to Huddersfield, but was pleased with how they fought against a tough opponent.
Saints earned a 0-0 draw away to the Premier League new boys, and had some opportunities in the early and late stages to have claimed all three points.
On the whole, Pellegrino was satisfied with the display and the continuation of the team's unbeaten top-flight start, but explained they need to find more in the future.
"It was a really tough game from the beginning and I think we were fighting, we were there," he said.
"We had some problems on second balls and in some deliveries, but I think little by little we were getting better, especially when we controlled the ball.
"At the beginning we had a couple of situations and, at the end, we were much better – we had three or four opportunities to score and to win the game – but typical British football, it was really tough.
"Huddersfield are now with a really high mentality. We were fighting until the end. The character of the team was good and we've got another point, another clean sheet, but we have to keep going. To win games, you have to do something more – a little bit more."
