WHAT’S AT STAKE?

For both sides, it’s a chance to keep their good starts to the season going.

Huddersfield have arrived in the Premier League in spectacular fashion, winning each of their opening two matches.

Saints are close behind them, having claimed four points from a possible six so far.

A win for either side would cement an extremely strong start to the campaign.

TEAM NEWS

Huddersfield: Manager David Wagner will not involve new signings Abdelhamid Sabiri or Florent Hadergjonaj, while midfielder Jonathan Hogg, forward Nakhi Wells and defenders Martin Cranie and Jon Gorenc Stankovic are absent through injury.

Southampton: Saints are assessing whether Dutch international centre-back Wesley Hoedt will be part of the squad, having only arrived from Lazio during the week. Manager Mauricio Pellegrino has no major injury concerns ahead of this one.

ONE TO WATCH

Benin striker Steve Mounie was one of a number of players signed by Huddersfield Town over the summer, and he is fast becoming a fan favourite. He struck twice on the opening day of the season, in the 3-0 win at Crystal Palace, and the 22-year-old looks like a real threat for the Terriers.

DID YOU KNOW?

Huddersfield have also kept a clean sheet in both of their Premier League games so far. The only previous occasion a newly-promoted side managed to do this in each of their opening three games in a Premier League season were Charlton Athletic in 1998-99.

These two sides last met in the top-flight back in December 1971; a season that Huddersfield finished bottom of Division One.
