Mauricio Pellegrino is looking forward to taking charge of his first game at St Mary’s tomorrow evening.
Saints face FC Augbsurg in the first of two home pre-season friendlies this week, and Pellegrino has stressed the importance of the upcoming five days.
“We’ve got to give our best,” he started.
“We don’t have too much time until we play 90 minutes in an important game. We will play now on our pitch against two good teams from Germany and Spain.
“It will be in front of our fans for the first time, and I would like to show the magic that we will give to them.”
Having already met a number of Saints fans during the pre-season training camps in Austria and France, Pellegrino is now excited to experience a matchday at St Mary’s.
Though he also admitted to feeling slightly nervous about his introduction to the Saints faithful.
“I am a little bit anxious, to be honest,” the manager continued.
“Because, for me, the fans are a massive part of the club. Our players and the staff that work around the team, we are giving our best to try to send a good message to them.
“These two games will be a good chance for us to complete our final preparation and ensure we are ready for the start of the season.”
