Claude Puel wants Southampton to channel their anger into their performance against Everton on Monday.
Saints head to Goodison Park having lost both of their home games over the festive period, against Tottenham Hotspur and West Bromwich Albion.
Puel says the frustration of those two results must be used to spur them on when they face the Toffees, who are overseen by the club's former manager, Ronald Koeman.
"They are a strong team, with quality," said the Saints boss. "They have players who can make the difference, because they have good individuals and they have also more days of recovery than us.
"I think it's always important to keep the concentration on our play and our team, and the most important to come back for this game with a good spirit, a strong spirit, and we can be angry after these last two games, and it's important to show this on the pitch."
Puel added: "It's an important game, of course, but all of them are. There's a long way to go in the season, but it's important in a difficult period to have the ability to correct this, to react, to give a good answer, and it's important to stay with the good concentration, with a good spirit.
"This squad has quality, it's a young squad, it's normal that we are disappointed in this moment, but we have many games to react and show other things."
