Claude Puel felt Southampton’s 3-0 defeat to Everton was an unfair reflection of how the game had gone.
Saints suffered a third consecutive Premier League loss, as they fell to a trio of late goals at Goodison Park.
Puel felt that was harsh on his side, after they had more than matched the hosts for the first 70 minutes of the game.
"It's a shame, because I saw a good team, with courage, good spirit and a good attitude,” said the Saints boss.
"It was an even game for 70 minutes, but the first goal changed the face of the game.
"It's hard to accept, because we did good work, strong work, with the tiredness.
"My players didn't deserve this. It's difficult to accept.”
