Claude Puel says the injury that forced Cédric off at Everton is not a major one.

The right-back had to go off after just six minutes of the 3-0 defeat at Goodison Park, having suffered a head injury when he went crashing off the pitch after a challenge with Leighton Baines.

Cédric was replaced by Jack Stephens for the remainder of the game, but Puel does not expect it to be an issue going forward.

"It's not a big injury, but he could not continue and it was a shame, to prevent another fresh player from playing today, because this can help make the difference,” said Puel.

"After ten minutes we lost Cédric, Ryan Bertrand was ill and cannot start. For example, a young player like [Sam] McQueen, has to play two games in two days and it's very difficult.

"All the squad tried to come back and the midfield made strong pressing and we left spaces in front of our defence.

"This is just a consequence of the first goal. After, with the tiredness, it was very difficult to close the lines and keep good possibilities to attack, but I think today we are unlucky."
