Le Tissier: We can get stronger

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier feels the club can continue their progress under Claude Puel in the second-half of the campaign.

Saints are currently 7th in the table after their 3-1 success over AFC Bournemouth last time out, as well as being in the semi-final of the EFL Cup against Liverpool.

And Le Tissier feels there is still a lot more to come from a side who have made a strong start in adjusting to life under their new manager.

He said: “It’s been good when you consider that we’re seventh in the Premier League and in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup. I’m pretty pleased with where we’re sat.

“There’s going to be less fixtures in the second half of the season which will help us a little bit I think.

“I don’t think we’ve reached our full potential so far this season if I’m honest.

“There’s been times where it has been a little bit of a struggle, yet we still find ourselves in seventh position at Christmas.

“If we can really hit our straps there’s no position why we can’t improve on that position.

“You know what it’s in front of you now and you know there’s not too much to fear.

“Apart from that there’s chances in every single game we play, especially here at St Mary’s.”
