Jay Rodriguez says Southampton are relishing a busy festive fixture schedule, as they prepare to face Stoke City at bet365 Stadium.
Rodriguez played the duration of the 1-0 win over Middlesbrough as Claude Puel’s men returned to the top half.
“We stuck together and we carried on working as we are doing throughout this season,” said Rodriguez.
“We want to maximise points every time we play and it’s going to be a busy period so the lads are looking forward to it and feeling fresh.
“It’s been a long time but it was good to get 90 minutes and I was disappointed not to score.
“But it was nice to be out there and playing football because that’s what I love.”
And having lead the line admirably against Boro, the forward will be hoping to be involved again as Saints look to continue their charge up the table.
Rodriguez added: “It’s going to be tough. A midweek at Stoke is always tough and it’s a difficult place to go because they’re a good side.
“If we work hard and try what we’ve been working on in training then I’m sure we can get the three points.
“Every game we go into we want to take maximum points and the main thing for us is to keep climbing the table.”
