Claude Puel says the absence of top goalscorer Charlie Austin can present opportunity for the rest of his squad.
Austin is expected to be out for three to four months after sustaining a shoulder injury against Hapoel Be’er Sheva, with Jay Rodriguez spearheading the attack against Boro.
While it is naturally disappointing to lose the forward, Puel has laid down the gauntlet to his side to fill the void.
“It’s a big disappointment for Charlie. I’m very sorry for him and for the team also because he’s scored a lot of goals.
“Now it’s important to make confidence with other players like Shane or Jay, or midfield and defensive players to score.
“It’s a good opportunity for other players to take place and to take the responsibility on. This is normal for us.”
