Cédric admitted Southampton’s first-half display was not good enough, as they slipped to a 3-0 defeat away to Crystal Palace.
Saints found themselves two goals down at half time after Christian Benteke and James Tomkins had netted in quick succession for the hosts at Selhurst Park.
The first came from an unfortunate moment for goalkeeper Fraser Forster, but Cédric was more disappointed to concede a sloppy second goal so soon after.
“It was not a good moment because as we tried to react to the first goal, we suffered a second one,” Cédric said.
“It killed the team a little bit. We came back in the second half and had a good 30 minutes, I think, but we didn’t score.
“They came back and then scored the third goal. They are used to the pitch, to their way of playing, and sometimes it’s tough to resolve problems on this type of pitch.
“It was a tough game. In the first half we didn’t get to a good level. The second was better,” he continued.
“We created more chances and played better football, but we didn’t score. They were a little bit lucky with the way they scored.”
Saints have not conceded three in the league since November 2015, and Cédric says the whole team must accept responsibility.
“When we win, even if the defenders don’t score, we belong to the team,” Cédric said.
“I don’t want to blame individually the defenders. It’s not normal for Southampton to give away three goals.
“It was not a happy day for us, we were a little bit unlucky with the way we suffered the goals.”
