Aston Villa will be a very different side to the one Southampton Under-18s previously beat 4-0, according to manager Craig Fleming.
Saints travel to Bodymoor Heath to face a Villa team that have only lost once since Fleming’s men put four past them at Staplewood Campus in September.
“They have only lost one game since we beat them,” explained Fleming.
“So they are definitely a different side and have had some good results recently.
“We’ve looked at them and they are very difficult to beat - I think it will definitely be a tougher game than the one we played at home.
“But it’s been a good week of hard work for us. We had some honest chats with the boys to try and get the disappointment of last week’s performance out of us.”
One of Fleming’s squad, goalkeeper Adam Parkes, has recently put pen to paper on his first professional contract with the club.
And the manager spoke about Parkes’ potential, as well as praising the work FDSC Goalkeeping Manager Vince Bartram has done with the 17-year-old.
“I am delighted that another one has come through,” commented Fleming.
“It’s Vince’s hard work that has paid off there and helped Adam to get his first professional deal.
“Goalkeepers obviously mature a lot later and Adam is still very young, but he has a massive frame and I am sure he will be a big prospect in the future.”
