Dušan Tadić wants Southampton to replicate the killer instinct they showed against Sunderland last season when the teams meet at St Mary’s tomorrow.
Saints famously thumped the Black Cats 8-0 when the sides met in a Barclays Premier League contest in October 2014, with Tadić scoring one and being credited with three assists.
The playmaker wants the team to show the same attitude this weekend that they did on that record-breaking afternoon.
"It was a great memory,” Tadić told Southampton’s official YouTube channel. “It was a great result. I think every time we shot it went in.
“I remember we played really good football and, after that, everything came – we created lots of chances and we scored a lot of goals.
"Every player got a lot of confidence and a lot of trust between each other. It's nice, and in those kind of games you show also your character, that you never stop. The best teams in the world, they never stop and they always finish the opponent until the end.
“We need to remember how we played. I think we were really dangerous and our movements and everything was really good. We played really offensive and nice football and then after that we scored a lot of goals.”
However, Tadić, who also scored the winner in Saints' 1-0 triumph at the Stadium of Light earlier this season, has also warned that Sunderland could have additional determination as a result of last season’s scoreline.
"You never can forget these kind of things and for sure they will try to get revenge,” he said.
