• Saints’ last win against Chelsea came in March 2013, as they won 2-1 at St Mary’s.

• Last season, Chelsea won 3-1 at Stamford Bridge, before winning 3-0 at St Mary’s.

• Saints beat Chelsea 5-1 on aggregate to reach the final of the 1992 Full Members Cup.

• Saints went nine games without defeat in all competitions against Chelsea between October 1990 and April 1994.

• Chelsea had never beaten Saints in the FA Cup until a 5-1 victory in January 2013.

Three second-half goals earned Chelsea all three points against Southampton at St Mary’s the last time the two sides met.

Fernando Torres opened the scoring on the hour mark, before Willian made it 2-0 with a good strike 11 minutes later. The visitors completed the scoring in the 82nd minute, as Oscar finished well.
