LOAN WATCH: Mixed bag for Saints loanees

By SFC Media time Mon 22 Dec Men's First team

It was a mixed weekend for the seven Southampton players currently away from the club on loan.

Swindon Town’s four-game winning run came to an end on Saturday as they were beaten 1-0 at home by Doncaster Rovers.

Saints duo Jack Stephens and Jordan Turnbull once again started for the League 1 promotion-chasers, but Theo Robinson’s 26th-minute penalty won it for the visitors.

Next up for the Robins is a Boxing Day trip to Walsall, closely followed by a home game against Port Vale two days later.

There was better news for Artur Boruc, who helped AFC Bournemouth maintain their spot at the top of the Sky Bet Championship with a 6-1 away win over strugglers Blackpool.

The Cherries, who have yet to lose a league game with Boruc between the posts, host Fulham and travel to Millwall over the festive period.

Gastón Ramírez made what was only his second start for Hull City as they welcomed Swansea City to the KC Stadium.

However, the Saints man could not prevent the Tigers’ poor run from continuing as Ki Sung-Yueng’s 15th-minute goal won it for the Swans and further entrenched the home side in the relegation zone.

Jake Sinclair was an unused substitute as Hibernian won 3-1 away at Raith Rovers in the Scottish Championship.

Having been sent off in Maidenhead’s last league game, Will Britt was suspended for Saturday’s game against Farnborough, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Dani Osvaldo was not involved for Internazionale after being given leave of absence due to a family bereavement.
