Check out our recap of tonight's victory in our match report.

21.35

FULL TIME: Bournemouth 0-1 Southampton

A clean sheet and a BIG three points for Saints! Ché Adams's ninth-minute header stands up for the remainder of the game, and Southampton climb out of the bottom three.

21.22

Yellow Card for Stuart Armstrong (Southampton)

21.22
90+1’

A nervy moment!

A corner to the back post slips through the grip of Gavin Bazunu, with Lewis Cook then turning it goalwards, but Mohammed Salisu clears from inside the six-yard box.

90’

Five minutes of added time... 🥵

87’

Southampton substitution: Moussa Djenepo replaces Adam Armstrong

A triple change for Saints as they look to close out the win.

87’

Southampton substitution: Juan Larios replaces Romain Perraud

87’

Southampton substitution: Ibrahima Diallo replaces Ainsley Maitland-Niles

85’

Bournemouth substitution: Kieffer Moore replaces Ryan Fredericks

84’

Bournemouth substitution: Siriki Dembélé replaces Philip Billing

83’

So close to a second!

It's the Romain Perraud-Ché Adams link-up again, as the former is played into space in the left of the area and cuts a perfect ball back to the latter, but Adams's first-time shot is blocked by the well-positioned Adam Smith. Not sure Neto would have been saving that if it had got past Smith.

80’

Tavernier header saved

A clipped ball to the back post finds Marcus Tavernier, but he doesn't get a whole lot on his downward header and it's gathered by Gavin Bazunu.

77’

Ward-Prowse hits it wide

Saints break and Adam Armstrong lays the ball off for James Ward-Prowse 25 yards out, but it's on his left foot, and he drags a relatively tame shot wide.

75’

Bournemouth appeal for a penalty

Bournemouth hoping for a spot kick, as Dominic Solanke's low delivery might have struck Mohammed Salisu on the arm, but both the referee and VAR agree it's not a penalty.

72’

Solanke shot flies over

Nothing more than a half chance, as Dominic Solanke gets the ball on the right side of the area, swivels and shoots well over the far top corner. Had it gone in, he'd probably have been ruled offside for when the ball was played to him too.

70’

A huge block from Lyanco

An incredibly dangerous moment from Bournemouth, as they work the ball into the box and Dominic Solanke lays it into the path of Philip Billing just inside the area, but Lyanco throws himself in the way of his first-time shot to avert the danger.

66’

Southampton substitution: Stuart Armstrong replaces Kyle Walker-Peters

An enforced change for Saints, with Walker-Peters appearing to have picked up a bit of a knock. He's walked off ok, so hopefully nothing too bad.

64’

Saints switch their shape

That substitution has unsurprisingly led to a change in formation for Saints, who are now going with three centre-backs.

64’

Southampton substitution: Lyanco replaces Joe Aribo

A first switch of the evening for Saints.

62’

Bournemouth substitution: Junior Stanislas replaces Ryan Christie

The first change of the night for either side.

60’

Perraud shot blocked

Saints go down the other end and work an opening, as Joe Aribo picks out Romain Perraud with a smart pass into the area. The low, first-time shot from the left-back is well blocked by the Cherries defence, though.

59’

Saints holding off the hosts

There's a fair bit of pressure coming from Bournemouth now, albeit without creating a major opportunity. The best comes from their latest corner, which finds Dominic Solanke on the edge of the six-yard box at the near post, but he gets his header wrong and sends the ball well over.

48’

Big chance for the Cherries

A corner picks out Marcos Senesi in a central position a couple of yards out, but he needs to lean slightly away from goal to reach it and it's enough to cause him to end up sending his header wide of the far post.

Into the second half...

We're back under way in Bournemouth, as Saints look to keep hold of their advantage. No changes in personnel from either team at the break.

First-half action shots 📸

Take a look through some of our images from the opening 45 minutes at Vitality Stadium.

HALF TIME: Bournemouth 0-1 Southampton

So far, so good! Saints lead at the break after that superb ninth-minute header from Ché Adams.

44’

Yellow Card for Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Southampton)

Maitland-Niles goes into the book, presumably for his reaction to the Mepham challenge.

43’

Yellow Card for Chris Mepham (Bournemouth)

Mepham is rightly booked for that tackle.

43’

Players exchanging words and a few shoves

There's a bit of back and forth between some of the players after Chris Mepham lunges into a tackle on Ainsley Maitland-Niles outside the field of play. Not a great tackle, that!

41’

Tavernier tries his luck

Marcus Tavernier has provided a bit of a spark for the home team tonight, and he goes on an impressive driving run here that takes him to the left edge of the box, but his shot flashes a couple of yards wide of the near post.

37’

Cook's free-kick off target

Bournemouth win a free-kick a few yards outside of the box, to the left of centre, but it's not a great effort from Lewis Cook, who bends it up and over the wall, but also a good couple of yards above the crossbar.

31’

Billing can't beat Bazunu

Philip Billing tries his luck with a rasping shot from 25 yards, but Gavin Bazunu is equal to it, making a nice save to push it away.

30’

Walker-Peters causes havoc

Kyle Walker-Peters drives between a couple of defenders to the byline and fires in a low ball towards the near post, but it's just out of the reach of Joe Aribo as he slides in and Bournemouth manage to scramble it away.

27’

Bazunu saves from Lerma

A deep free-kick is sent towards the back post by Marcus Tavernier, and Jefferson Lerma rises to meet it, but his downward header towards the near post is well gathered by Gavin Bazunu.

Jumping for joy!

Ché Adams leaps into the air after giving Southampton an early lead at Bournemouth!

14’

Yellow Card for Romain Perraud (Southampton)

Perraud is the first player into the book, for a foul on Marcus Tavernier deep in the Southampton half.

GOALSCORER 10 Ché Adams

WHAT A START!

Oh yes! What a start to the night this is! It's a beauty of a cross from Romain Perraud, and Ché Adams shows some clever movement in the area to get on the end of it, flicking a brilliant header across goal and into the far corner.

8’

GOOOAL!!!

Ché Adams (8’) | 0 1

7’

Saints threaten through Ward-Prowse's free-kick

Joe Aribo wins a free-kick in a deep position out on the left, and James Ward-Prowse swings in a beauty of a delivery towards the back post. Both Aribo and Duje Ćaleta-Car are close to getting on the end of it, but it goes just over their heads and bounces narrowly wide of the post.

2’

Solanke off target

An early sight of goal for the hosts, but Dominic Solanke scuffs his low, left-footed shot from 20 yards wide of the post.
